Flash MX. Part II. Making Nice Glowing Effect and learning basic Flash techniques and ActionScript.

1. Create a new FLA file. Save it as "planet_start.fla".

2. Import your picture by selecting "File > Import..." (or press Ctrl+R).

. Open your Library window by selecting "Window > Library" (or press F11).

4. Double-click on the planet.jpg icon in the Library. Uncheck Allow smoothing.

Note: if you import .png image instead of .jpg set Compression to Lossless (PNG/GIF). It can increase the file size but it's absolutely necessary to keep image quality.

5. Open the document properties by selecting "Modify > Document" (or press Ctrl+J). Set width and height in accordance to your picture's size. Set Frame rate to 30 fps.

6. Convert picture to Symbol (press F8). Name it as you like ( I' ve named it "space"), choose Behavior: Movie Clip, Registration: low right corner.

7. In the Properties window set X and Y value to 0.

8. Copy the instance of "space" Movie Clip, insert new Layer and Paste in Place the copy to the new Layer.

9. Convert the copy to Symbol (press F8). Name it as you like (I' ve named it "planet"), choose Behavior: Movie Clip, Registration: low right corner.

10. Lock both Layers. Choose "View >". Uncheck Snap to Objects, check Snap to Pixels.

11. Select "planet" Movie Clip in the Edit Symbols dialog. Now we will edit "planet" Movie Clip.

12. Lock Layer 1 and insert new Layer.13. Select "View > Rulers"

14. Place the pointer on the vertical ruler, click and drag to the stage. Do the same for horizontal ruler. guides
15. Align vertical and horizontal guides to planet.

16. Zoom in your image. Adjust guides (no decimals!)

17. Select "View > Guides". Make sure Snap to Guides is checked.
18. Choose Oval Tool (or press O). oval tool(O)
In the Properties window change Stroke style to hairline

Open Color Mixer (or press Shit+F9).

Select  Fill Color, set  Alpha to 0%
