Flash MX. Part II. Making Nice Glowing Effect and learning basic Flash techniques and ActionScript.

27. Click on the first keyframe and change Tween to Shape in the Properties window. Click on the frame 30 and insert keyframe.

In the Color Mixer select the pointer in the middle of the gradient definition bar. Drag the pointer to the right and change Alpha to 15%.

Click on the frame 45 and insert keyframe. In the Color Mixer select the middle pointer and change Alpha to 0%. Test your Movie.

28. To make our scene a little more interesting we are going to add small stars.

Select "Insert > New Symbol" (Ctrl+F8). Name it "star_shape", set behavior to Movie Clip. Change Background Color to white, make sure Snap to Pixels is checked. Select "View > Rulers", then "View > Show Guides and Snap to Guides".

29. Draw a line. draw a line
Select Arrow Tool and make the line curved. curved line
Select the line, copy and paste in place. Choose "Modify > Transform > Flip Horizontal". Move the selected line 3 px to the right using arrow keys. flip horizontal
Select both lines, copy and paste in place. Choose "Modify > Transform > Flip Vertical". Move the selected lines 20 px to the bottom using arrow keys. flip vertical
30. Change Background Color back to dark. Open Color Mixer and set Fill Type to Solid, Fill Color to white, Alpha to 50%. Fill our shape by selecting Paint Bucket Tool. Delete strokes. solid white alpha 50%
Select shape and choose "Modify > Shape > Soften Fill Edges...". Set Distance to 6 px, Number of steps to 6, Direction to Inset. Click OK - our shape has soft edges.

Select all the shapes. Tip: we can do it by clicking on the first keyframe in the Timeline. Copy it, insert new Layer and paste it in place on this new Layer. Select "Modify > Transform > Rotate 90° CW". small star is ready
Again select all the shapes and group them ( "Modify > Group").

Select "Insert > Convert to Symbol". Name it "star_group", Behavior: Movie Clip, Registration point: centre. star_group Movie Clip

31. Click on the first keyframe of the Layer where the instance of "star_group" Movie Clip is placed. In the Properties set Tween to Motion. Insert keyframes at frames 10, 15, 25. Return to the keyframe 1, select the instance of "star_group" Movie Clip and set Color to Alpha, value 0%. Do the same thing at the keyframe 25. Lock Layer.

Click on the first keyframe of the second Layer. Open Actions window (F9) and set Mode to Expert. Find Actions > Movie Control > stop. Double-click on "stop" line - "stop( );" is placed in the script window. Insert a keyframe at frame 25 and add "stop" Action to this frame also.
